Welcome to the official website of Indian Overseas Congress (I)

The Indian Overseas Congress (I) UK was formed in the early 1970’s by late S Piara Singh Uppal, late S Darshan Singh Sandhu MBE and other members. In those times the Indian community within the UK was very small and their was a steady flow of people still comming to the UK from all over India.

Our aims and objectives..

  • To secure, protect and safeguard, all rights, privileges and facilities for Indians and person of Indian Origin settled in UK, through peaceful and constitutional means.
  • To promote, encourage and undertake all actions, plans and programmes required for their general welfare – economic, social and cultural.
  • To guide, help and assist members of the Indian Community in UK, to secure, protect and safeguard their economic and political rights in various fields.
  • To project a correct image of India, Indian civilisation and culture and to help members of the Indian Community to understand and assimilate British history, culture and civilisation.
  • To provide a suitable forum for the projection and presentation of the common problems and viewpoints of the Indian community both to the Governments of UK and India through appropriate means and channels.
  • To secure and establish appropriate contacts, relations and alliances with political parties.
